Joseph Franklin Kauffman Diary, . 1862

Joseph Franklin Kauffman was a soldier of the 10th Virginia Regiment, Confederate States of America. The collection is a typed transcription of Kauffman's diary, 28 March-28 August 1862, while campaigning in Virginia, primarily in the Shenandoah Valley. Until his death at the Battle of Second Manassas, Kauffman made daily entries, describing his activities, particularly travelling in wagons with other invalids. Maps, notes made in 1940, and an index are included.
